Yoav Artzi, Assistant Professor at Cornell Tech and in the Computer Science Department at Cornell University, has received a Google Focused Research Award to fund exploration of spatial language understanding. His research proposes studying spatial language comprehension and generation in interactive settings using resources that provide real-life visual input and environment configurations to enable the study of the complexity of natural language that occurs in real-life environments. The Google Focused Research Award is for $1.5 million and will be divided evenly between Artzi and fellow principal investigator Mohit Bansal of the University of North Carolina.
