In today’s studio, students learned about the importance of responsive and adaptive design in shaping user experience.
Software engineers Greg Mazurak and Kyle Dorman from Gilt, the online shopping powerhouse, joined the students to discuss their ever-evolving design strategy
At Gilt, Mazurak and Dorman said they’re constantly thinking about how to make design work through multiple lenses, which is key for e-commerce. Mazurak reminded students that for today’s user there are three device experience levels – minimal, intermediate, and full which correspond roughly to the experience a user would have on a phone, tablet, and laptop or desktop.
User experience is top of mind for Cornell Tech students as they enter the final phase of their company projects. With only 19 working days left, it’s crunch time as students work to finalize their projects and focus on creating real world deliverables.
One group focused on customizing a user experience is the team working with LinkedIn to improve company career pages, the hub of all employer branding activity on LinkedIn.
The team designed a Google Chrome extension to guide users on what information they need to include for visitors. This helps managers update their pages and creates more compelling company pages for prospective employees. Simplifying the company user experience is an easy way for LinkedIn to create a system that better serves the needs of both their corporate and individual clients.
