Cornell Tech @ Bloomberg: Margaret Lim, Managing Director, Amex Ventures

**NOTE: This month’s Cornell Tech @ Bloomberg event will be hosted at Bloomberg’s 731 Lexington Ave office. Please check the “WHEN & WHERE” section below for details.**

Bloomberg, Cornell Tech, and Tech:NYC invite you to join us for the latest installment of the Cornell Tech @ Bloomberg Speaker Series, featuring Margaret Lim, Managing Director and Head of Fintech & Commerce Investments at Amex Ventures, in conversation with Caroline Hyde, host of Bloomberg Television’s flagship daily technology show.

Amex Ventures is the venture capital arm of American Express, investing in early-stage startups at the Seed to Series B stage that operate in areas strategically relevant to American Express — including consumer lifestyle, fintech, commerce, enterprise capabilities, and more. Amex Ventures offer the resources of a global services company paired with the experience of a leading venture fund. Investments include Plaid, Stripe, Wonder, Shef, Blackbird and more. To date, the team has made more than 100 investments in startups.

Lim joined Amex Ventures in 2019 and is a Managing Director. She focuses on investments in Fintech, Commerce & Frontier Technologies. She is also responsible for forging partnerships between Amex Ventures’ portfolio companies and business teams across American Express, such as Global Commercial Services, Consumer Banking, and more. Approximately two-thirds of Amex Ventures’ investments have had partnerships with American Express business units. To date, Lim has led investments in high-profile companies including DUST Identity, Superlogic, Finmark, Firework, and Trellis, among others.

We hope you’ll join us for this conversation, in which Lim will discuss the corporate VC’s approach to investing in startups, why startups should consider working with CVCs, how and why it helps the startups it invests in to partner within American Express, her take on NFTs, and some of the other megatrends that she’s keeping a close eye on.
